Payroll Administrator

Overview

We are looking for a Payroll Administrator in Ville St-Laurent. This is an opportunity that will allow growing in a captivating and dynamic environment. The work location is: Ville St-Laurent, QC.

Responsibilities

  • Collects and ensures the validity of the information required for the preparation of payroll
    (change of pay, hours worked, etc.)
  • Prepares the weekly payrolls in accordance with the different rules (company policy,
    collective agreement and various legislation) for salaried employees and about 200 unionized employees
  • Responsibility for updating payroll records and employee records
  • Protects the confidentiality of staff records
  • Prepares and distributes various reports on pay (report to managers, employee association and government agencies)
  • Listens, filters and appropriately manages employee grievances and comments and makes recommendations
  • Administers group insurance records (follow-up on short and long-term disability files with the insurer and employees)
  • Administers the pension plan records
  • Prepares reports for month end (Journal entry for wages weekly bases)
  • Back up for the Brampton offices (understand Ontario rules)

Required qualifications

  • College diploma in accounting and 5-10 years of experience
  • Solid understanding of accounting fundamentals and payroll best practices
  • Member of the Canadian Payroll Administrators Association an asset
  • Proficient in MS Office and good knowledge of payroll software (ADP knowledge is an asset)
  • Able to work with minimal supervision
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Trustworthy with attention to confidentiality Maturity and discretion
  • Spoken and written skills (French & English).
